Cultural life is a key site for the production of cosmopolitan civil societies. Through cultural festivities, civil societies express and produce underlying structures of social meaning. Participation in festivities, from the arts to music festivals, to sporting carnivals, to holiday celebrations, offer forms of awareness and connectivity that underpin cosmopolitan orientations. How are these activities and events experienced, and what do they produce?
